Sharukh Khan conferred the Malaysian title 'Datuk'
Sharukh khan became the first foreign actor to be conferred the title 'Datuk', akin to the British knighthood, this Saturday in Malaysia.
Resplendent in a black baju Melayu, samping and songkok, the traditional Malaysian attire, he received the state award from Melaka Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, the royal constitutional head of the state.Responding to the media, Sharukh was quoted to say that the award was a honour not just for him but for all the actors in India. He also added that he plan to do a movie entirely shot in Malaysia.The movie had been tentatively named, 'Happy new year'. He repeatedly thanked the administration for the award. He said that he planned to bring his family over to Malaysia for a holiday.
The 43 year old actor has already bagged over 40 awards in the film industry including Zee cinema award, NDTV award, Screen award, India International award etc.Sharukh Khan is immensely popular in Malaysia along with actors like Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan. His popularity extends beyond the 3 million Indian population in the 28 million population of Malaysia.
