Surya fans -mixed reaction to Vaaranam Aayiram

Surya's latest film 'Vaaranam Aayiram' which hit the theatres amidst great expectations has elicited a mixed reaction among his fans. Although everyone is convinced of his splendid performance in the film, some are disappointed by the fact that he has done a relatively a soft role in the film. The action sequence that has been introduced in the film also doesn't appear to merge with the main script. The picture that has exploited the acting talent has poorly done to his mass hero image. The proof for this is that this picture is being commercially overtaken by other films like thenaavattu.
Surya's fans feel that such elite English speaking roles will distance him away from the common people. Surya always known for his down to earth personality must choose those roles that are more realistic, some feel. It should be noted that being a son of Sivakumar the veteran actor has given Tamil fans a sense of belongingness toward him.
There are some fans who beleive that Surya must concentrate on mass films like those of Vijay and Ajith. When done so he has a good chance of beating them as a mass hero, they say. Mass heroes also make films that are commercially more successful. They insist that he must satisfy the overall audience, other than the elite city dwellers.
Female fans have a different opinion though. They feel that Surya has to stick to such posh roles. They feel that it suits his personality. It should be noted that Surya has a huge female fan following , particularly after his devoted love afair and marriage with Jyothika.

The movie that has recently caught the attention of people during its audio launch is Pattalam. This film stars seven heroes, all new faces. The heroine is Vijayalakshmi. The film also stars Nadiya, who plays the role of a school teaches who guides them. The audio launch was staged in style bringing young actors like Srikanth, Jeeva, Bharath, Prasanna, Jai who introduced each hero one by one. Director Venkat Prabhu introduced the director of the film. The actors were confident that the new faces will definitely emerge in to stardom the way they did , which lifted the spirit of the young heroes. The film is produced by Lingusaami.
Another highlight of the movie is that one of the songs has created much interest among critics including Vairamuthu, the famous poet of Tamil film industry. That particular song was penned by a poet Nellai Bharathi, who is an already famous poet in the literary circle. Tamil fans are eagerly expecting the film to hit the theatres.

Sonia moves to small screen!

Sonia Agarwal, originally from Punjab had a short but very successful stint in Kollywood. She gave a series of successful films including kaathal kondein,7G rainbow Colon, Kovil and others. She retired from film industry after getting married to director Selvaraghavan. Her last film was Thiruttu payale and her film with Srikanth never came out.
Recently she has accepted the offer of acting in a serial in kalaingar tv, produced by Kushbu. This serial is also named 'Sathurangam' but the crew says that the name is not finalised. Most of her films portayed her as a beautiful, vulnerable girl and she was criticised for her limited performance. Unlike films, small screen soaps have the female lead as the main anchor which takes them to success, it is yet to be seen how she handles it. But her entry is seen as a breath of fresh air, in small screen industry which is dominated by senior actresses of yesteryears.
